The Lode (Hand-Turned, Stabilized)

Dimensions: Approx. 2 5/8" tall × 2 1/8" diameter

The Lode is a companion piece to The Placer — and like it, this shot glass was turned from Plains Cottonwood harvested along the banks of Cherry Creek in Parker, Colorado. These two pieces share a bloodline: same tree, same stretch of water, same story in the wood.

The name comes from hard-rock mining — a lode is the source vein, the mother deposit from which everything flows. The Placer catches what drifts downstream. The Lode is where it all begins.

This piece has been dyed Aztec Gold, and the color works with the cottonwood rather than over it. Where the grain runs clean, the gold reads warm and luminous. Where figure tightens, or a character mark asserts itself — a knot, a seam, a darkened streak from the tree's own history — the dye deepens and shifts. No two faces of this glass are the same. No two pieces from this blank turned out alike.

The glass is professionally stabilized, meaning the wood has been pressure-infused with resin to make it denser, more durable, and sealed against moisture. It's built to be used.

Finish: Stabilized and sealed with a food-safe blend of polymerized walnut oil, beeswax, and carnauba wax.

Care: Hand wash only. Do not soak.

Best For: A celebration pour — or for anyone who believes the best things come from knowing where to look.

Note: Product photos are the best available representation of this piece. Colors and grain character may appear differently depending on your monitor's settings, screen calibration, and lighting conditions.
