our most asked questions

How should I clean my wooden bowls, spoons, or shot glasses?

Hand wash only using mild soap and warm water. Avoid soaking or running them through the dishwasher, as excess moisture and heat can cause cracking or warping.

Can I leave them to air dry?

Yes — just pat them dry with a towel first, then let them air dry completely in a well-ventilated area. Avoid drying them in direct sunlight or near a heat source.

Should I oil my woodenware?

Absolutely! Regular oiling keeps the wood nourished and protected. Our spoons and bowls are finished with polymerized walnut oil such as Mahoney's Walnut Oil. Shot glasses receive an additional treatment of walnut oil infused with beeswax and carnauba wax. Avoid use of kitchen grade walnut oil or other oils that can spoil. Reapply whenever the wood starts to look dry or dull.

How do I apply the oil?

Rub a small amount of oil onto the surface with a soft cloth or paper towel, let it soak in for 10-15 minutes, then wipe off any excess. Let it rest overnight before using again.

What should I avoid using on wood?

Skip harsh detergents, bleach, or soaking in water. Don't use vegetable oils (like olive or coconut) since they can go rancid over time.

Can I use wooden shot glasses for liquids like whiskey or espresso?

Our shot glasses are crafted from over 60 different wood species, and we stabilize many of them to fill the pores, helping to prevent expansion and contraction. Our stabilization process strengthens the wood, making it more resistant to cracking and warping over time. Through extensive testing, we've found that our shot glasses perform best with cooler liquids like whiskey.

Certain species, such as claro walnut or sweet gum, are much more tolerant of heat.

If you wish to use a shot glass for hot beverages, please select one made from claro walnut or sweet gum, as these are more heat-tolerant than other species we offer. However, most of our shot glasses are not recommended for coffee or other hot drinks, as some woods may crack when exposed to high temperatures. In any case, do not let liquids sit in the glass for too long. After use, rinse and dry immediately-this prevents liquids from seeping into the wood, which can cause staining, swelling, or long-term damage. A well-oiled interior further helps resist moisture and maintain the integrity of the wood.

My wooden spoon feels rough - what can I do?

Lightly sand the surface with fine grit sandpaper (320 grit works well), then reapply polymerized walnut oil or wax. It'll feel smooth and look refreshed again.

How long will my woodenware last?

With proper care, wooden kitchenware can last for decades

- developing a beautiful patina and unique character over time.
