Riftgrain Burl is hand-turned from stabilized maple burl, a highly figured hardwood known for its swirling grain, organic movement, and natural tonal variation. This piece features layered curls, clustered eyes, and flowing grain transitions that shift subtly as the light moves across the surface, giving each angle a distinct character.
The form is smooth and cylindrical with a gently rounded rim, designed to feel balanced and substantial in the hand. Its proportions are compact yet confident, making it equally suited for everyday use or display among other sculptural pieces.
Stabilization reinforces the burl’s structure while preserving its visual complexity. The surface is finished with a food-safe blend of polymerized walnut oil, beeswax, and carnauba wax, resulting in a sealed, durable finish with a warm, natural luster.
