Red River Box Elder is hand-turned from stabilized Box Elder burl, a North American hardwood prized for its dramatic grain movement and natural color variation. Box Elder often displays pale cream and honey tones contrasted with darker streaks and occasional reddish accents, giving each piece a layered, organic appearance shaped by growth and time.
The form is compact and smoothly contoured, with gently rounded edges that feel comfortable and balanced in the hand. The shaping is intentionally restrained, allowing the burl’s swirling grain and natural contrast to remain the focal point rather than competing with the form.
This shot glass is stabilized to improve durability and resistance to moisture while preserving the wood’s natural character. It is finished with a food-safe blend of walnut oil, beeswax, and carnauba wax, producing a soft luster and a smooth, tactile surface suitable for both use and display.
Red River Box Elder reflects the quiet strength of native hardwood elevated through careful craftsmanship. Each piece is individually turned and finished by hand, resulting in a shot glass that is both functional and expressive. As with all Gentry Crafted pieces, this shot glass is one of a kind.
