White Mulberry (Dyed & Stabilized)

Dimensions: ~4 inches tall × ~2 inches in diameter

This shot glass is hand-turned from White Mulberry wood that I personally harvested, cut, dried, stabilized, and finished from start to end. Mulberry is a resilient hardwood that does not require stabilization for strength or function, but stabilization allows the wood to accept dye in ways that reveal entirely new character. In this piece, the process transforms the natural grain into something luminous and expressive.

The rich golden dye flows through the mulberry’s naturally dramatic grain, creating layered movement that shifts with the light. Fine lines and subtle curl ripple across the surface, giving the piece a depth that feels almost woven—an effect that inspired the name Mulberry Silk. The finish is smooth and balanced in the hand, with the grain remaining tactile rather than buried.

Mulberry has long been valued for its relationship to silk production, serving as the host tree for silkworms. That connection feels fitting here: a humble wood elevated through patience, process, and care into something refined yet organic. Each angle reveals a slightly different interplay of gold, amber, and shadow, making the glass feel alive rather than static.

This is a one-of-a-kind piece—shaped by hand, guided by the wood, and finished to highlight both its natural strength and its transformed beauty. Functional, durable, and visually striking, it reflects the full journey from standing tree to finished object.
