California Buckeye Burl Shot Glass (Stabilized)
Dimensions: Approx. 2¾" tall × 1½" diameter
This shot glass is turned from stabilized California Buckeye Burl—a wood known for its smoky palette, clustered eyes, and unpredictable movement. The grain in this piece is especially dramatic: flame-like swirls wrap around a central burl figure, with tendrils of amber and gray weaving through creamy sapwood. A prominent knot sits just off-center, anchoring the visual rhythm and giving the form a sense of motion.
Stabilization reinforces the structure by infusing resin under vacuum and pressure, preserving the delicate figure and allowing for clean turning and finishing. The surface is sealed with polymerized walnut oil, beeswax, and carnauba wax, resulting in a smooth, semi-satin touch that highlights the contrast between light and shadow.
This is a single-item SKU, crafted for presence. It’s bold, expressive, and shaped with care—a vessel that feels like the label on a bourbon bottle: full of story, full of character.
