The Story of the Wood This vessel began high in the Colorado mountains, harvested ethically from Aspen timber (Populus tremuloides) that was already down. Hand-turned and finished in my shop, it carries the rugged spirit of the high country in a refined, functional form.
The Process & Pattern Stabilizing Aspen is a collaboration between the maker and the wood. The timber itself chooses how much dye to accept, creating a completely unique map of color. This piece features a brilliant gold/yellow hue where the stabilizing resin has bonded with the grain, highlighting the natural chatoyance and "rippled" figure.
Because of this selective absorption, no two pieces are ever alike—this is a true "one of one" creation.
Finish: Stabilized for durability and water resistance, then polished to a high gloss.
Care: Hand wash only to preserve the luster.
Best For: Ideal for spirits served neat or at room temperature.
