This shot glass is made from Acacia wood—sourced nearly two years ago, stabilized eighteen months ago, and tucked away until its true character revealed itself. What once looked uninspiring from the outside turned out to be a quiet marvel. The finished piece showcases a diagonal ribbon of grain that wraps around the form like a carved breeze, with warm amber tones and subtle chatoyance that shift in the light.
The wood has been stabilized—a process where resin is infused under vacuum and pressure to reinforce structure and preserve visual detail. This allows the grain to hold its clarity and depth through turning and finishing. The surface is sealed with polymerized walnut oil, beeswax, and carnauba wax, enhancing the wood’s natural glow and protecting its finish.
