This shot glass is turned from stabilized Aspen—a domestic hardwood harvested by Gentry Crafted during a summer road trip. The form is wide and grounded, with a gentle taper and a smooth lip that invites use.
The grain is subtle but expressive: vertical bands of creamy yellow and honeyed gold flow across the surface, interrupted by streaks of reddish-brown heartwood that add contrast and depth. Stabilization—achieved through resin infusion under vacuum and pressure—reinforces the structure and preserves the natural color variation, allowing the wood to hold its shape and finish cleanly.
Sealed with polymerized walnut oil, beeswax, and carnauba wax, the surface has a soft semi-satin sheen that highlights the warmth and quiet complexity of the wood.
